Bagley scores top-10 finishes across two touring series
Morgan Bagley took on two of the nation’s premier Dirt Late Model touring series over the weekend, with the Longview, Texas, driver notching fourth- and seventh-place finishes.
Bagley started his weekend with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series at Old No. 1 Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas), where on Friday evening he drove his P&W Sales No. 14M Dirt Late Model to the second quickest time in his qualifying group. He then turned in a second-place finish in his heat race.
Those preliminary results put “Mo Bags” in the eighth starting spot for the night’s 40-lap feature event. Bagley advanced four positions on the quarter-mile, semi-banked oval, trailing Ethan Dotson, Timothy Culp and Hunter Rasdon under the checkered flag, with Billy Moyer Sr. coming fifth in the $5,000-to-win contest.
The second night of the planned COMP Cams Super Dirt Series weekend twinbill was rained out at West Memphis, Arkansas’ Riverside International Speedway, leading Team 14 to make a last-minute change to the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) event at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri.
Bagley timed sixth quickest in his group on Saturday at the third annual Battle of the Beach and both started and finished third in his heat race. He started 11th for the event's $7,000-to-win, 40-lap finale and picked up four positions to come home seventh on the 1/3-mile clay oval.
