Bagley records trio of top-10 finishes in Week 2 of Hell Tour

After rain wreaked havoc on their initially scheduled slate of June races, Morgan Bagley and Team 14 decided to join up with the second week of the grueling DIRTcar Summer Nationals—also known as “The Hell Tour.”

Aboard his P&W Sales No. 14M Dirt Late Model, Bagley kicked off the week on Tuesday evening at Moberly Motorsports Park (Moberly, Missouri), where he was one of 32 entrants at the 4/10-mile track. He started strong by winning his heat race and taking the pole for the $5,000-to-win, 30-lap A-Main. The Longview, Texas, driver ran among the top five for much of the race before being forced to pull off with an issue, recording a 14th-place finish.

On Wednesday, the tour shifted to Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) for a $5,000-to-win program with 31 cars entered at the quarter-mile speed plant. A fourth-place result in his heat put Bagley 11th on the grid for the 40-lap A-Main. He moved forward one position to take a top-10 result.

Thursday’s slated event at Canton, Illinois’ 3/8-mile Spoon River Speedway was canceled due to a track equipment malfunction, meaning “Mo Bags” next took to the track at the Brownstown Bullring (Brownstown, Illinois) on Friday evening.

A large field of 48 Dirt Late Models was on hand for the $10,000-to-win show at Brownstown, where Bagley steered his No. 14M to a heat race victory on the quarter-mile oval. He started the 50-lap feature from the inside of the second row and came home seventh.

Next up on Saturday was Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Missouri) where 36 cars looked to take the $10,000 winner’s purse on the 1/3-mile track. Bagley finished ninth in his heat after a chunk of mud knocked off the car's power disconnect safety switch, ending the No. 14M's evening before the consolation race.

Sunday saw Bagley visit Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Illinois) to conclude the first week of his and his team’s Midwest swing with another $10,000-to-win event. With 28 cars in the pit area at the quarter-mile oval, Bagley used a fourth-place finish in his heat race to start 10th in the 40-lap A-Main. He advanced two spots to come home eighth—his third top-10 result of the week.
