Bagley claims Jackson podium finish during busy CCSDS Labor Day weekend stretch
Team 14 and driver Morgan Bagley took on multiple stout fields of COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) competitors over Labor Day weekend during three days of racing in Louisiana and Mississippi.
On Friday evening, Bagley’s FK Rod Ends No. 14M Super Late Model was among 21 CCSDS entries at the quarter-mile Super Bee Speedway (Chatham, Louisiana) for a $5,000-to-win program. Bagley won his heat race and started the 40-lap feature from the third position. He ran up front for the first half of the race, but fell out of the event during a caution period and registered a 19th-place result.
The following night, another $5,000 up for grabs brought 25 CCSDS competitors to the Jackson All-American 60 at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi). Bagley finished second in his heat and lined up sixth for the 60-lap A-Main on the 1/3-mile oval. He ran as high as second after a mid-race restart with the track transitioning to a dominant top lane. Bagley eventually fell to third after another re-rack and finished in the final podium spot, trailing Neil Baggett and BJ Robinson to the line. Brian Rickman was fourth and Billy Moyer Jr. rounded out the top five.
A third $5,000-to-win show at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Sunday brought 31 CCSDS entrants to the 3/8-mile track. Challenging conditions and a tacky surface from heavy rain in the days prior were the story of the evening. Bagley came home third in his heat and started ninth in the main event. He ran as high as third in the race’s first half, but his car suffered nose damage in an accident and he ultimately could not continue. He recorded a 13th-place finish.
Bagley currently is in fifth place in the CCSDS standings.
